This morning we will depart for Cu Chi, where we will visit the famous labyrinthine underground tunnels – a network of over 200 kilometers, which played a vital role during the Vietnam War, as a hiding place as well as a stronghold for the Viet Cong against the Americans. Inside these underground tunnels were living quarters, administrative centers, kitchens, warehouses, weapons factories, hospitals, etc. After watching a short introductory video showing how these tunnels were built, you will have the opportunity to “crawl” into a small section of them to understand the narrowness of the space and the temperature that prevailed. Return to Saigon and a city tour, during which we will visit the very interesting War Remnants Museum, we will see the Reunification Palace or Independence Palace (formerly the Presidential Palace), the French Neo-Romanesque Cathedral Panagia, built between 1877 and 1883 and the Eiffel Central Post Office , one of the most important attractions of the city, etc. Then we will visit the Cho Lon local market full of small shops. A combination of Chinese and Japanese architecture of the 16th century managed to leave unchanged the impressive collage with the small picturesque cobblestones around a river, the bridges, the Chinese temples, the many small shops and cafes. The bright colors of the houses and the lanterns of special aesthetics complete the decoration. Today we will take a walk on the famous Japanese tile-roofed bridge, where tradition calls for newlyweds to leave their wishes for eternal life together with candles over the river.. We will also see the old houses as well as the market located next to the Thu Bon river, a magical old world with an oriental feel and a source of inspiration. It was built in the 11th century and is dedicated to Confucius. Then we will visit the Museum of Ethnology.
