Day 1Athens - Budapest - Budapest city tour
Meeting at E. Venizelos airport and departure for the capital of the Magyars. Arrival followed by a guided tour of the city from Pest, with the large square of the Heroes, and the impressive statue of the Archangel Gabriel, an impressive structure, where the statues of the kings of the country are “hosted”. Then you will visit the Cathedral of St. Stefanou (admission included), the largest church in Hungary. You will be impressed by the interior decoration as well as the chapel of the church. You will then head along the Danube where you will admire the beautiful bridges and reach the Buda side. You will admire the Castle, the Fishermen’s Tower and the Historical Church of Ag. Mattia, who dominates the Northern part of the district of Kastro. After the end of the tour, transfer and check-in at our hotel. Rest of the day at your disposal, stroll along the famous Vaci Utca, try local sweets and relax with your coffee at the famous Gerbeaud & New York Cafes
Day 2Budapest – Free day
Today the day is at your disposal to take a walk in the beautiful Historic Center of Pest or you can visit the rich Art Gallery, which hosts periodic exhibitions and the Parliament with its very interesting “interior” decoration, (timely purchase required ticket).
Day 32nd Budapest tour & Danube evening cruise
Today we will visit the indoor market. Here you will have the opportunity to buy the famous Hungarian salami, the local drinks Unikum and Palinka, as well as their famous wines. Also the Jewish quarter, which was once one of the largest ghettos of World War II. Dominating here is the Dohany Synagogue, the largest Jewish place of worship in Europe and the second largest in the entire world. The synagogue is surrounded by the Heroes’ Monument, the Jewish museum and the inscriptions in memory of the Red Army that liberated Budapest. Finally we will end up at the main pedestrian street Vaci utca for shopping with many options. In the evening you will have the opportunity to take a unique cruise on the Danube where you will see the most important buildings of the city illuminated, a GIFT from our office.
Day 4Budapest - Danube Villages
Breakfast. Departure for the beautiful route to the Bend of the Danube. First stop the village of artists, Ag. Andreas, with its picturesque alleys and beautiful tourist shops, an area famous for its good wines. We continue to Visegrad, the historical attraction of the magnificent Danube Bend. Of its once glorious and European-famous royal palace, only a few ruins remain, the Renaissance-style formal reception courtyard restored based on old plans. Next is a walk to the first capital of Hungary, Esztergom. We will cross the bridge that joins the two banks of the Danube, Hungary and Slovakia, to pass to the city of Sturovo, Slovakia, from where we will enjoy the spectacle offered by the Danube and be impressed by Saint Stephen, illuminated on the opposite hill Hungary. Return to Budapest in the afternoon.
Day 5Budapest – Athens
Breakfast at the hotel. Afterwards, transfer to the airport and return flight to Athens.
